Report: Number of Russia-linked firms in Hungary soars in 2022

BUDAPEST, Jan 30 (PRIME) -- 671 companies in Hungary are connected with Russia, including 77 that have been registered since the end of February 2022, news portal Portfolio reported on Monday citing information from database Opten.

The companies were identified as tied with Russia by either their ownership by an entity affiliated with Russia or a Russian citizen.

Before February 2022 but after the pandemic, about 50–60 such companies were registered per year. According to the portal, the speed of new Russia-affiliated firms' registration dropped in January 2023, with only three new register entries as of January 27.
